Hi, I’m Ning. I grew up a nerd in China, the youngest son of a big four kids’ family. In the first year of my undergraduate school, I won the outstanding prize on the First National Footwear Competition hosted by Li Ning company ( the first sportswear brand in China). As the youngest competitor, it earned me $1,000, a bunch of flowers, and, most deeply, great enlightening passion for design.
My first full-time job after graduation was a low paid designer in Beijing working whole day tried to copy designs of successful products on the market, which was pretty common back then. I quit one week later because I believe design means more than that.
I end up studying design at the Carnegie Mellon University as a master student. After that, I joined a startup based in Pittsburgh where I worked on pretty much everything from logo redesign, website rebuilt to office decoration, photography. I was able to do a lot of different things with great responsibility. What I love about startups is that it’s nearly impossible not to notice a job well done and your work will be well recognized.
In 2014, I moved to LA working as a full-time UI/UX designer since then. Here I like the sunshine, beach, and palm trees. When I take time off work, I love working on handmade stuff from handcrafted iPad case to homemade recipes.
